R4 Root Canal Irrigation Solution

R4 is a specialized solution designed for root canal cleaning through irrigation. Its formulation includes chlorhexidine digluconate, which ensures thorough canal disinfection by targeting anaerobic strains present in the root-canal flora and endo-periodontal lesions. The solution exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, effectively acting against the bacterial strains commonly found in root canals.

R4 offers a long-lasting antibacterial effect while maintaining low toxicity, making it safe for use in endodontic procedures. Its efficacy is comparable to sodium hypochlorite, with the added advantage of a remanent effect lasting over 48 hours, ensuring prolonged antimicrobial action.

STORAGE

• Initial Preparation: Perform chemical and mechanical preparation of the root canal following standard endodontic procedures.
• Pre-Irrigation Flush: Rinse the canal with sterile water or an EDTA solution to remove debris and residual materials.
• Drying: Thoroughly dry the canal using paper points.
• Final Irrigation with R4: Use a disposable pipette to introduce R4 solution into the canal, ensuring it does not extend beyond the apical foramen. Avoid excessive force or flushing.
• Excess Solution Removal: Remove any surplus solution to prevent interference with temporary crown restoration sealing.
• Temporary Sealing: If needed, place a cotton pellet in the access cavity and seal hermetically with a temporary filling to fully cover the pellet.
• Prevent Contamination: Always use a new pipette when additional solution is required.
• Subsequent Sessions: At follow-up sessions (24 hours to 30 days later), repeat the flushing process with sterile water or EDTA solution.
• Follow-Up Procedures: Continue with chemical and mechanical preparation as needed, or proceed with permanent cavity filling according to standard clinical protocols.
