MANI Short Barbed Broaches are specialized endodontic hand instruments designed for the removal of pulp tissue from the root canal during root canal treatment. Made from slender round wire, the working portion features precisely formed barbs that engage soft tissue within the canal, allowing clinicians to carefully retrieve pulp tissue during canal preparation.
The barbed configuration enables the instrument to grip tissue when appropriately introduced into the root canal. This makes MANI Barbed Broaches particularly useful during pulp extirpation and the initial stages of endodontic cleaning before subsequent canal preparation with files and other instruments.
Unlike barbed broaches, smooth broaches have an unnotched working surface and are primarily intended for canal exploration and establishing a pathway for subsequent instrumentation. The two instrument designs therefore perform different functions within the endodontic workflow.
MANI Short Barbed Broaches are available in individual sizes #1, #2 and #3, along with assorted #1–6 and #2–4 packs. These individual and assorted configurations allow dentists and endodontists to select suitable sizes according to the dimensions and anatomy of the root canal being treated.
With their specialized barbed working surface and multiple size options, MANI Short Barbed Broaches provide a practical instrument for pulp tissue engagement and removal during endodontic procedures, supporting subsequent cleaning and shaping of the root canal system.
