The luting composite in the Multilink N System Pack features an advanced composition, including a methacrylate and HEMA monomer matrix, along with inorganic fillers such as barium glass, ytterbium trifluoride, and spheroid mixed oxide. These components enhance the material’s strength, durability, and radiopacity, ensuring excellent clinical performance while maintaining visibility on dental X-rays.

A key feature of the system is its easy-to-use self-etch adhesive, Multilink N Primer, which is specifically coordinated with the luting composite. This adhesive provides superior sealing of dentin, excellent marginal integrity, and high bond strength to both enamel and dentin—achievable in as little as ten minutes—streamlining the restoration process.

In addition, the Multilink N System Pack allows for easy cleanup of excess cement, saving valuable time during procedures. Composition:

• Monomer Matrix: Dimethacrylate and HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate).
• Inorganic Fillers: Barium glass, ytterbium trifluoride, and spheroid mixed oxide.
• Particle Size: Ranging from 0.25 to 3.0 µm with a mean particle size of 0.9 µm.
• Total Volume of Inorganic Fillers: Approximately 40% of the material consists of inorganic fillers.

Storage Temperature:

Removal of Temporary Restoration and Cleaning of the Cavity

• Remove any temporary luting cement residue using a polishing brush and oil- and fluoride-free cleaning paste.
• Rinse thoroughly with water spray and dry using air free of water and oil. Avoid over-drying.

Try-In of the Restoration and Drying

• Verify shade, fit, and occlusion of the restoration.
• Make necessary adjustments with fine diamonds, taking care with fragile ceramic restorations.
• For adhesive luting with composites, ensure proper isolation (e.g., rubber dam or cotton rolls with saliva ejector).

Pre-Treatment of the Restoration

• Rinse the restoration with water spray and dry with oil-free air.
• Apply Ivoclean thoroughly to the bonding surface using a microbrush or brush; allow 20 seconds for reaction, then rinse and dry.
• For specific ceramics (e.g., lithium disilicate or zirconium oxide), apply Monobond N for 60 seconds and disperse with a strong air stream.

Mixing of Multilink N Primer A and B

• Mix Primer A and Primer B in a 1:1 ratio (e.g., 1 drop each).
• Use the mixed primer within 10 minutes; it is self-curing.

Application of Mixed Multilink N Primer

• Apply primer to the entire bonding surface using a microbrush, starting with enamel, and scrub for 30 seconds.
• Remove excess primer with blown air; no light-curing needed.

Application of Multilink N to the Restoration

• Attach a new automix tip for each application.
• Dispense the required amount of Multilink N onto the restoration.
• Replace the mixing tip before the next application.

Placement of the Restoration and Removal of Excess Cement

• Seat the restoration in place and secure it.
• Remove excess cement immediately using microbrush, brush, foam pellet, dental floss, or scaler.
• For self-curing with optional light-curing (quarter technique), light-cure excess in segments.
• Quickly remove cement in difficult areas (proximal, gingival margins, pontics).
• Light-cure all margins again for 20 seconds.

Finishing of the Restoration

• Finish cement joints with preparation diamonds if needed.
• Polish restoration margins and cement joints using suitable polishers and finishing/polishing strips.
• Check occlusion and function; make final adjustments as necessary.
