1. Clean and sterilize the instrument using standard steam autoclaving protocols prior to patient application.
2. Evaluate the target tooth anatomically and position the straight spade blade parallel to the long axis of the root.
3. Gently insert the thin spade tip into the periodontal ligament space along the interproximal or crestal surface.
4. Apply slight axial pressure accompanied by minimal rotational movements to cut the periodontal ligament fibers.
5. Work progressively around the root circumference to detach the fiber attachments and expand the bony socket gently.
6. Avoid using heavy leverage force to prevent damage to surrounding alveolar bone structures or tipping of adjacent teeth.
