The GDC Periotome # 4 (P3) is a specialized surgical instrument designed for atraumatic extractions and delicate periodontal ligament detachment. Clean, disinfect, and autoclave the instrument according to standard clinical protocol prior to surgery.

Anesthetize the surgical site and perform gentle sulcular incision around the tooth.

Position the thin blade tip into the periodontal ligament space parallel to the root surface.

Advance the blade apically along the root circumference using light controlled pressure to sever Sharpey’s fibers.

Move circumferentially around the tooth root without applying heavy rotational or levering force.

Once the periodontal attachment is detached, proceed with tooth removal using standard extraction forceps or elevators.
