1. Clean and sterilize the instrument in an autoclave prior to clinical usage.
2. Position the cutting beak flush against the distal exit of the posterior buccal tube.
3. Verify that the safety holding lip faces away from the patient's oral tissues to securely capture the wire segment.
4. Apply firm, steady pressure on the handles until the archwire is completely sectioned.
5. Retain pressure on the handles while removing the instrument from the mouth to ensure the cut wire stays caught.
6. Release handle pressure outside the oral cavity to discard the wire remnant safely into a sharps container.
7. Clean off debris immediately after use and process through standard sterilization cycles.
