• Premium tungsten carbide inserts provide maximum clamping pressure and eliminate needle slippage or axial rotation.
• Precision-milled pyramidal jaw profile maintains consistent traction on small-to-medium suture needles.
• Tapered jaw shape facilitates smooth access into narrow intraoral areas and restricted interdental spaces.
• Gold-anodized finger ring handles ensure instant visual differentiation from standard stainless steel instruments.
• Multi-step ratchet locking mechanism allows controlled, incremental jaw tension to reduce surgeon hand fatigue.
• High-grade surgical stainless steel construction resists surface corrosion, pitting, and stain formation.
• Smooth, hand-polished finish ensures easy clearing of tissue debris and simplified ultrasonic cleaning protocols.
• Engineered balance and weight distribution offer optimal feedback during complex mucosal flap closures.
The GDC Crile-Wood Tungsten Carbide Needle Holder (15cm, NH5038) is a specialized surgical instrument developed for dentists and oral surgeons who demand superior needle security during delicate intraoral wound closures. Crafted from high-grade surgical stainless steel, this instrument features tungsten carbide jaw inserts with micro-pyramidal teeth. This hard-wearing surface grips suture needles firmly, preventing rotation or lateral slipping under tension without flattening or damaging the needle body.
Featuring a 15 cm working length, the Crile-Wood pattern provides an ideal balance between tactile control and adequate depth of reach. Its gently tapered, blunt jaws permit easy manipulation around soft tissue flaps, interdental papillae, and posterior regions. The finger-ring handle is fitted with a multi-position ratchet lock, enabling clinicians to set consistent grip pressure and maintain a stable hold throughout multi-layered flap adaptation, implant site closure, or mucogingival procedures.
Distinguished by gold-plated finger rings that signify genuine tungsten carbide construction, the NH5038 needle holder offers long-term durability and resistance to wear compared to standard stainless steel models. Fully autoclavable and passivated to prevent corrosion, this instrument is a reliable addition to any oral surgery setup.

Inspect the jaws, hinge, and ratchet system prior to clinical use to ensure structural integrity and freedom from debris.
Confirm the instrument has undergone a validated autoclave sterilization cycle before patient contact.
Open the jaws by disengaging the ratchet mechanism.
Position the suture needle between the tungsten carbide working surfaces, placing it approximately two-thirds of the distance back from the needle point.
Compress the finger ring handles until the ratchet engages at the required holding tension.
Drive the needle through the tissue following its natural curvature without applying excessive leverage.
Disengage the ratchet with a gentle release of the handles to free the needle and complete the stitch knotting.
Wash immediately post-procedure, clean using an ultrasonic bath, and store unlocked prior to subsequent sterilization.
