Inspect the instrument for any wear or damage before clinical use.
Select the appropriate Gracey 9/10 curette for posterior buccal and lingual root surfaces.
Establish a secure finger rest and adapt the lower cutting edge to the tooth surface.
Insert the blade subgingivally with a relaxed grip and closed angulation.
Open the blade angle to between 70 and 80 degrees against the root.
Execute controlled, overlapping working strokes to thoroughly remove subgingival calculus.
Clean, sterilize, and store the instrument safely following completion of the procedure.
