Examine periodontal pocket depths and record clinical measurements prior to starting the scaling procedure. Select the SGCC7/8 instrument and confirm proper shank alignment parallel to the target tooth surface. Insert the blade into the periodontal pocket with the face closed flush against the root surface. Advance the blade smoothly to the base of the pocket, ensuring the tip bypasses the contour safely. Tilt the lower shank slightly toward the tooth to establish the correct 70-degree cutting edge angulation. Execute controlled, overlapping vertical and oblique strokes with firm lateral pressure to remove subgingival deposits. Conclude the procedure by cleaning, inspecting, and sterilizing the instrument according to standard clinical protocols.
