1. Examine the mouth gag prior to sterilization to confirm smooth operation of the threaded locking mechanism.
2. Autoclave the instrument following standard medical-grade steam sterilization protocols.
3. Position the patient securely with appropriate headrest stabilization before placement.
4. Carefully open the instrument arms by loosening the main adjustment screw.
5. Guide the working arms into the oral cavity, positioning them along the premolar or molar regions.
6. Rotate the adjustment screw to gradually open the jaws to the necessary clinical clearance.
7. Verify that surrounding soft tissues are fully clear of moving joints and screw threads.
8. Perform the required oral surgical procedure while monitoring patient airway and comfort.
