1. Thoroughly clean and autoclave the excavator prior to clinical use.
2. Prepare the endodontic access cavity using appropriate burs and rotary instruments.
3. Ensure adequate illumination and visualization of the pulp chamber.
4. Insert the spoon tip gently into the pulp chamber or deep cavity floor.
5. Apply controlled lateral pressure to scoop out soft carious dentin, coronal pulp remnants, or temporary material.
6. Irrigate the cavity periodically with sodium hypochlorite or sterile saline to flush debris.
7. Clean, inspect, and sterilize the instrument following complete procedural protocol.
