Examine the patient's maxillary edentulous ridge to select the appropriate Size #2 tray width and contour.

Try in the empty tray intraorally to verify adequate coverage of the tuberosities and hamular notches without overextension.

Prepare the chosen impression material according to the manufacturer's recommended mixing protocol.

Load the tray evenly with the impression material, ensuring sufficient bulk over the crest of the ridge and palatal area.

Insert the tray into the oral cavity parallel to the occlusal plane and seat it gently upwards until the material flows into the sulcus.

Support the tray in position passively without manual pressure until the impression material fully sets.
