1. Clean and autoclave the instrument thoroughly prior to surgical use.
2. Carefully reflect soft tissue surrounding the remaining root fragment if necessary.
3. Align the fine, tapered beaks of the forcep with the longitudinal axis of the root remnant.
4. Advance the beak tips subgingivally into the periodontal ligament space to establish a secure mechanical purchase.
5. Apply controlled, gentle rotational or axial traction forces to loosen and lift the root fragment out of the socket.
6. Clean, debride, and sterilize the forcep immediately following the procedure.
