GC Tempsmart is a dual-cure, bis-acrylic composite developed for the chairside fabrication of provisional crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and veneers. This variant is supplied in A2, a frequently selected shade for producing natural-looking anterior and posterior temporary restorations.

Its high-density polymer network combines micro-filled resin with nano-filler technology to provide fracture resistance, flexural strength and a surface that can be polished efficiently. The plasticiser-free formulation produces a hard, smooth restoration with a minimal oxygen-inhibited layer and good gloss retention.

Tempsmart is delivered through a 1:1 automix cartridge for consistent proportioning and straightforward matrix filling. The provisional can be removed from the mouth during its elastic stage and then light-cured extraorally for faster finishing. It may also be allowed to complete polymerisation through its self-curing mechanism.

The 48 ml cartridge range is available in A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1 and BW shades. This A2 pack contains one 48 ml cartridge and 16 mixing tips. A compatible GC Cartridge Dispenser II is required separately.

1. Before tooth preparation, create a suitable matrix using a preliminary impression, vacuum-formed template or prefabricated crown form.
2. Prepare the teeth and block out significant undercuts where necessary. Lightly lubricate exposed dentine if recommended by the clinical technique.
3. Insert the 48 ml cartridge into a compatible GC Cartridge Dispenser II and remove the cartridge cap.
4. Bleed a small amount from both cartridge openings to confirm even flow, attach a new mixing tip and discard an initial pea-sized quantity.
5. Dispense Tempsmart into the relevant areas of the matrix without overfilling or trapping air.
6. Seat the loaded matrix intraorally within 45 seconds from the beginning of dispensing.
7. At approximately 2–2.5 minutes, remove excess material and withdraw the matrix while the provisional remains elastically deformable. Do not allow it to reach its final set while locked onto undercuts.
8. Remove the provisional from the matrix and light-cure each surface extraorally for approximately 5 seconds. When curing intraorally, do not exceed 2 seconds per surface because polymerisation may generate heat.
9. Alternatively, allow the material to self-cure for approximately 5 minutes from the beginning of dispensing.
10. Trim the margins, finish and polish the restoration, verify proximal contacts and occlusion, then cement it using a suitable non-eugenol temporary luting cement.
