GC Solare Universal Bond is a single-component, light-cured dental adhesive formulated for bonding restorative materials to enamel and dentine. It can be incorporated into self-etch, selective enamel-etch or total-etch protocols, allowing clinicians to select an approach appropriate for the preparation and restorative procedure.

Its HEMA-free, acetone-based formulation contains dimethacrylate and phosphate ester monomers that support wetting and interaction with prepared tooth surfaces. The adhesive is radiopaque and is intended for use with light-cured composites and compomers. It may also be used with dual-cured luting or core build-up composites when those materials are subsequently light-cured.

The product is available in 2.5 mL and 5 mL bottle configurations. Each sellable refill contains one bottle in the selected size; applicators, dispensing dishes and etching gel are not included unless specifically supplied as part of a separate promotional configuration.

1. Prepare the cavity using standard restorative techniques and isolate the operating field from saliva, blood and moisture.
2. Protect areas close to the pulp with a suitable pulp-protection material when clinically required; do not use the adhesive for direct pulp capping.
3. Select the self-etch, selective enamel-etch or total-etch technique according to the clinical situation.
4. When etching is selected, apply the phosphoric acid etchant according to its instructions, rinse thoroughly and remove excess water without desiccating the dentine.
5. Dispense the required amount of adhesive into a clean dispensing dish and close the bottle immediately.
6. Apply the adhesive thoroughly to all prepared enamel and dentine surfaces using a disposable applicator.
7. Leave the applied adhesive undisturbed for 10 seconds.
8. Dry thoroughly for 5 seconds using maximum-pressure, oil-free air until the adhesive layer no longer moves.
9. Light-cure the adhesive for 10 seconds with a suitable dental curing unit.
10. Place and polymerise the selected restorative material according to its manufacturer’s instructions.
