• Facilitates thorough removal of organic and inorganic components of the smear layer from root canal walls.
• Softens calcified dentin walls to simplify mechanical instrumentation and negotiation of narrow canals.
• Promotes opening of dentinal tubules to enhance penetration and adhesion of endodontic sealers.
• Formulated at a neutral pH balance to maximize chelating efficacy without degrading periapical tissue.
• Low surface tension allows smooth flow and deep penetration into complex root canal anatomy.
• Pre-mixed liquid formulation eliminates mixing errors and delivers consistent clinical performance.
DPI 17% EDTA Solution (ED17) is a professionally formulated chelating agent designed to enhance debridement during root canal therapy. By binding to calcium ions within dentin, it softens calcified canal walls, enabling smoother negotiation and shaping with rotary or hand instruments.
This aqueous solution efficiently clears both the organic and inorganic matrices of the smear layer produced during mechanical instrumentation. Exposing clean dentinal tubules ensures superior mechanical keying and dentinal adaptation of root canal sealers and obturation materials, lowering the risk of microleakage.
Supplied in a convenient 100 ml retail bottle, DPI ED17 flows easily into narrow or curved canal pathways without causing structural weakening of root dentin when used according to standard clinical protocols.

1. Perform initial mechanical debridement and shaping of the root canal using standard endodontic files.
2. Flush the root canal space thoroughly with sodium hypochlorite solution during mechanical preparation.
3. Dispense 1–2 ml of DPI 17% EDTA Solution into an endodontic side-vented irrigating syringe.
4. Express the solution gently into the root canal, ensuring the needle tip remains free within the canal space.
5. Allow the EDTA solution to remain in contact with the canal walls for 1 to 2 minutes for optimal chelation.
6. Agitate the solution ultrasonically or manually with a fitting file to enhance smear layer clearance.
7. Irrigate thoroughly with sterile saline or distilled water to completely remove residual chelating agent before obturation.
