1. Case Preparation

• Prepare the Class II cavity following standard restorative protocols.
• Ensure the area is clean, isolated, and free of debris.

2. Place the Wedge or WedgeGuard

• Select the appropriate wedge size (or WedgeGuard if protection of the adjacent tooth is needed).
• Insert the wedge interproximally from the lingual or buccal side.
• Allow it to compress on entry and flare on exit to create a secure seal.
• If using WedgeGuard, prepare the cavity while the guard protects the adjacent surface.
• Remove the guard after preparation—the wedge stays in place.

3. Position the Matrix Band

• Choose the properly sized Palodent V3 matrix band based on the tooth’s anatomy.
• Use pin tweezers to grip the matrix securely.
• Position the band around the tooth so the pronounced marginal ridge and gingival apron sit correctly.
• Ensure the band wraps smoothly around the tooth’s curvature to avoid gaps.

4. Apply the Ring

• Select either the Universal Ring or Narrow Ring depending on tooth size.
• Use Palodent V3 Forceps to expand the ring.
• Place the ring over the wedge, with the V-shaped tines resting securely against the wedge and tooth structure.
• Confirm that the nickel-titanium ring provides firm, consistent separation.

5. Verify Fit and Seal

• Ensure:
• The matrix is fully seated at the gingival margin.
• The wedge seals the gingival area without dislodging the matrix.
• The ring maintains stable separation and is properly aligned.
• Adjust as needed to eliminate gaps or overhang risk.

6. Place the Restorative Material

• Apply bonding agents and restorative materials following manufacturer guidelines.
• Place composite incrementally or use bulk-fill material if appropriate.
• Ensure the material is adapted fully against the matrix for proper contour.

7. Light Cure

• Cure each increment according to the material manufacturer’s recommended time.
• Confirm that curing penetrates through the proximal surface.

8. Remove the System Components

• Remove the ring using the forceps.
• Gently withdraw the wedge or WedgeGuard wedge.
• Remove the matrix band with pin tweezers, avoiding tooth damage.

9. Finish and Polish

• Check for proper proximal contact using dental floss.
• Remove any small overhangs if present.
• Shape, contour, and polish the restoration to achieve a natural anatomy and smooth finish.
