Dentsply Dycal is a self-setting, rigid material designed for use in both direct and indirect pulp capping, as well as a protective base or liner beneath restorative materials.
It is compatible with acrylic and composite restorations and does not interfere with their polymerization.
Formulated from the original Dycal composition, Dycal Radiopaque Calcium Hydroxide offers enhanced esthetics along with clinically proven performance.
The updated formulation provides superior physical properties, including greater compressive strength and reduced solubility, compared to the original Dycal.
Known for its fast setting time and easy handling, Dycal remains the leading calcium hydroxide product on the market.
It also promotes the formation of secondary (reparative) dentin, supporting long-term pulp vitality.
Mixing time: 10 seconds
Working time: 2 minutes 20 seconds
Setting time: 2½ to 3½ minutes
Mixing Ratio: Base:Catalyst 1.17g : 1.0g
1 x 13g Tube Base Paste

Tooth Preparation: Ensure the tooth is clean and properly isolated from moisture before starting the procedure.
Mixing Instructions:
Dentsply Dycal comes as a two-part system: powder and liquid.
Follow the manufacturer’s recommended ratios and technique.
Dispense a small amount of powder onto a mixing pad or glass slab.
Gradually add the liquid while mixing with a spatula until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved.
Application:
Apply the mixed Dycal to the prepared area using a spatula or an applicator tip recommended by the manufacturer.
Carefully place the material, ensuring full and even coverage over the target area.
Setting Time:
Dycal is self-setting and will harden over time.
Refer to the specific product guidelines for exact setting time.
Wait for the material to fully set before proceeding with the next steps in treatment.
Follow-Up Procedures:
Depending on the clinical situation, additional materials such as a liner or base may be placed over the Dycal.
The procedure can then continue with the placement of a final restoration, such as a filling or crown.
