D-Tech Iono-Coat is a light-cure protective varnish specifically formulated to protect glass ionomer cement (GIC) restorations during their critical early setting phase. Glass ionomers are inherently susceptible to moisture contamination and excessive drying within the first few hours of placement. Applying this resin-based varnish creates a resilient, hydrophobic barrier that seals the restoration surface effectively.

By preventing water gain and water loss, the coating ensures proper maturation of the GIC matrix, leading to improved edge strength, superior wear resistance, and high margin integrity. Complete the placement, initial anatomical contouring, and setting of the glass ionomer restoration.

Isolate the treatment site and gently dry the restoration surface using oil-free air.

Dispense a small drop of varnish onto a mixing pad or micro-applicator tip.

Apply a thin, uniform layer across the entire exposed surface of the restoration.

Light-cure the coated surface using a dental curing light for 10 to 20 seconds.

Check occlusion, make any minor adjustments if necessary, and reapply a thin coat if surface integrity was disturbed.
