Coltene Gelasponge is a sterile absorbable gelatin sponge used as a local haemostatic aid in dental and oral surgical procedures. Its porous structure absorbs blood and provides a physical matrix that supports clot formation, making it suitable for applications such as extraction sockets and other small surgical cavities where local bleeding control is required.
The supplied format contains 2 × 10 sponges measuring 10 × 10 × 10 mm. The sponge can be adapted with sterile instruments when a smaller piece is needed. Use only the amount clinically required and follow the current COLTENE instructions for use, including all warnings, aseptic handling requirements and post-operative guidance.

1. Open the sterile pack using aseptic technique and inspect the sponge before use.
2. Trim the sponge with sterile instruments when a smaller size is required.
3. Place the minimum amount needed directly at the bleeding site.
4. Apply gentle pressure with sterile gauze until satisfactory local haemostasis is achieved.
5. Follow the current manufacturer instructions for placement, closure and post-operative management.
