3M ESPE Sof-Lex Mandrel 1983RA is a right-angle, latch-attachment mandrel designed for use with Sof-Lex finishing and polishing discs. Its pop-on configuration allows compatible discs to be mounted and removed conveniently during restorative finishing procedures.

The low-profile design helps minimise the possibility of the mandrel contacting the restoration during use. It is intended for contra-angle handpieces and works with both Sof-Lex Contouring and Polishing Discs and Sof-Lex Extra-Thin Contouring and Polishing Discs.

1. Select the appropriate Sof-Lex polishing disc for the intended finishing or polishing procedure.
2. Ensure the contra-angle handpiece is clean and suitable for use with an RA shank.
3. Insert the 1983RA mandrel securely into the contra-angle handpiece.
4. Attach the compatible Sof-Lex disc onto the pop-on mandrel.
5. Confirm that the disc is seated correctly before starting the handpiece.
6. Use the mounted disc according to the applicable Sof-Lex polishing system instructions and the clinical procedure.
7. Maintain appropriate control and avoid excessive pressure during finishing or polishing.
8. After use, remove the disc and process the reusable mandrel according to applicable manufacturer and infection-control procedures.
