The 3M ESPE Sof-Lex Extra Thin Polishing Discs Intro Kit is a comprehensive restorative finishing system engineered to produce exceptional surface lusters on composite, glass ionomer, and resin-modified restorative materials. Featuring an ultra-thin profile, these flexible polyester-backed discs easily navigate narrow interproximal zones, line angles, and intricate facial contours without altering critical tooth anatomy. The distinct pop-on mounting technology securely holds the disc while permitting fast, tool-free disc changes and reversible operation.

Designed with a user-friendly color coding sequence, clinicians can effortlessly progress from gross contouring to final enamel-like polishing. The flush-mounted center eyelet protects surrounding tooth structures from accidental gouging during rotation. Each intro kit includes an assortment of 240 extra-thin discs divided across four abrasive grits and two versatile diameters, complemented by a dedicated low-speed latch mandrel.

1. Attach the Sof-Lex stainless steel pop-on mandrel securely into a low-speed latch-type contra-angle handpiece.
2. Select the appropriate disc diameter and grit according to the clinical finishing stage.
3. Snap the square center of the extra-thin disc firmly onto the mandrel head until properly seated.
4. Begin contouring with the coarse disc using low handpiece speed and light, intermittent water spray or dry contact.
5. Step sequentially through medium and fine grit sizes to smooth minor surface irregularities and refine margins.
6. Complete the procedure using the superfine disc to achieve a durable high-gloss enamel-like surface finish.
7. Detach and dispose of the used single-use disc and sterilize the mandrel following standard infection control protocols.
